In a three versus three fighting tournament, the third slot in a team is reserved for the "anchor". The anchor's job is to hold the line after their other partners have been defeated, which means they are used to fighting at a disadvantage. They must be cool under pressure, capable fighters, and ready for anything the other team or a quirk of fate is going to throw at them. Qetesh was the perfect anchor. She had mastered the fury of her bloodline curse, channeled it into raw power, and overcome insurmountable odds fighting alongside Team Death Valley.
So, when Dee disappeared into the vortex at the climax of the 16th Iron Fist tournament, Qetesh was barely phased. She shrugged and went back home, wrapped her wounds as best she could, packed a bag of emergency supplies, left a note for their last remaining teammate, and went back to where she had seen that portal to save her coworker and maybe also that psycho who kind of looks like her...
